Rebound Hammer Test

Rebound Hammer test (also known as Rebound Number Test) is carried out in accordance to BS EN 12504-2: 2012 “Testing concrete in structures – Part 2: Non-destructive testing – Determination of rebound number”. The test is carried out in vertical (-90°) position using the Concrete Test Hammer Model N34.

The test is based on the principle that the rebound of an elastic mass depends on the hardness of the surface upon which it strikes, which in turn provide information about a surface layer of concrete defined as no more than 30 mm deep.

The results are expressed in terms of rebound number which is a measure of the rebound distance of the mass.
